First World War Centenary & Colliery Heritage Trail

Community Archive Event

With funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund, Durham County Council, Stanley Town Council and the South Moor local History Group are developing  a South Moor and Quaking Houses  First World War and Colliery Heritage Trail and local history archive/website and we need your help –

  • Did any of your family from South Moor live during or serve in the first world or work in the South Moor Collieries?
  • Did you or your family live or work in South Moor and Quaking Houses and it’s Collieries?
  • Do you have any old photographs, artefacts or documents for us to scan or photograph to help us build a community archive/website ?
